MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
between
UNIVERSITÀ POLITECNICA DELLE MARCHE (UNIVPM) Ancona, Italy
and
TIANJIN UNIVERSITY - COLLEGE OF PRECISION INSTRUMENT AND
OPTOELECTRONIC ENGINEERING - Tianjin , China

1. This Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is designed to facilitate the exchange of students and faculty between Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) - Faculty of Engineering - Dept. of Mechanics - and the Tianjin University (TU) College of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronic Engineering (CPIOEE) for academic studies and for research collaboration in all areas of engineering common to both schools. This exchange will enhance the international experience of students and faculty of both institutions, as well as provide the students with resources (facilities and expertise) for their studies and research. It will enable graduate students from TU to conduct research towards their thesis/dissertation at UNIVPM. It will also enable students from UNIVPM to satisfy their study and research requirements for their degrees. In addition, it will enable undergraduate students from both institutions to engage in possible overseas summer programs.

2. Nature of Services, Exchange Timetables, Funding, Access to Learning Resources
The TU student participants of this program will be provided by UNIVPM with tuition waiver for up to 3 credit hours for a semester (Fall, Winter or Summer), and will be awarded a scholarship (stipend only) from TU equivalent to a graduate assistant at UNIVPM for a period of one semester (Fall, Winter or Summer). While at UNIVPM, TU student will work on their thesis/dissertation under the co-supervision of a faculty member from UNIVPM. This faculty member from UNIVPM can also serve on the student's thesis/dissertation committee.
On the basis of an appropriate resolution made by the Faculty, the UNIVPM student participants of this program may be awarded some credits for the period of study/research spent at TU. Following a proper resolution of the Board of Directors, UNIVPM will consider the possibility of granting the exchange students an economic contribution. Each exchange student from UNIVPM will have a TU faculty member as a technical advisor commensurate with his/her area of expertise.
The respective institution the students are visiting will provide other facilities such as academic labs, library access, office space, and information and computational resources.

3. Evaluation of Research
The faculty of the host institution, using their written or customary evaluation procedures and criteria will periodically evaluate the collaborative research performed by the exchange students, and communicate it to the home institution advisers.

4. Intellectual Property Rights
In the case of advanced technologies, intellectual property rights will be respected and protected by all University participants and their governments according to their internal policies governing intellectual property rights. Internationally recognized standards adopted by CHINA and EU will also be acknowledged. Specifically, the Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights Agreement (TRIPS) developed as part of the GATT Uruguay Round agreement to which both the CHINA and ITALY are signatories, will apply to the intellectual property developed.

5. Indemnifications and Medical Insurance
The Tianjin University and Università Politecnica delle Marche shall indemnify and hold the other harmless from any and all claims, causes of actions, costs, and/or expenses arising out of the acts or omissions of TU and UNIVPM and their respective agents and employees.
Medical insurance for mobility students and faculty will be provided according to the current norms of the host country. All partners must be sure that visiting students and faculty are provided with a form issued by their own country, or a similar document.
