And

THE LINUS PAULING INSTITUTE (USA)

PREAMBLE

The principal of the Universita Politecnica delle Marche and the Director of the Linus Pauling Institute (the "parties") are willing to reinforce their academic relationship and establish new cooperative ways. They have come to the following agreement:

ARTICLE 1

The present agreement has been designed to facilitate the cooperation between the parties in academic and research fields during the three cycles of higher education in common areas.

ARTICLE 2

In order to attain this cooperative programme, both parties agree to:

1.  Exchange the results of their pedagogical programs

(seminars, courses, etc,).

2.  Inform the other party about the congresses, debates, scientific meetings and seminars organized by each party, and exchange the documents and publications resulting from these activities.

3.  Promote, according to each country's regulations, the participation of lecturers in courses, conferences, seminars and congresses organized by the other party, as stated in the yearly cooperative programmes.

4.  Promote the temporary exchange of lecturers to enhance academic or research interactions between the parties. Exchange shall be subject to the agreement of the parties involved.

5. Accept students from the other party provided they meet the requirements in force established by the host institution and under suitably established conditions. As regards accident insurance, the students shall be under the rules in force drawn up by the receiving institution.

ARTICLE 3

Neither institution is obliged to provide financial support for this agreement. If financial commitments are made by either party, they shall be detailed in an addendum to this agreement.

ARTICLE 4

1.  Each party will elect its own representative. The two representatives have to decide the research program and the relative source of funding and to verify the realisation of the mentioned aims.

2. The representatives may draw up the annual work calendar (if necessary) and deal with unresolved issues. They shall meet alternatively at both institutions, unless otherwise stated (or they can get in touch by email/web tools).

ARTICLE 5

The agreement shall be passed by each party's Government Bodies and signed by their principals. The agreement shall come into effect from the moment of signature.

ARTICLE 6

The duration of the agreement is three years. After this period, the agreement will be automatically renewed unless written and signed notification has been received by one party from the other at least three months before its expiration.

ARTICLE 7

The agreement may be denounced by any of the parties at any time provided a

three month notice is given.

ARTICLE 8

Any modification to the agreement, made with the consent of both parties shall require the same proceedings that were taken to draw up the agreement.

Signed and dated in two copies, both of which are equally valid.
