Agreement between
UNIVERSITÀ POLITECNICA DELLE MARCHE (UNIVPM) Ancona, Italy and THE CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO FRANCISCANO DO PARANÁ Curitiba , Brazil The UNIVERSITA' POLITECNICA DELLE MARCHE (UNIVPM) and the CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO FRANCISCANO DO PARANÁ, deeming the development of cultural and scientific co-operation to be mutually advantageous to both Institutions and in order to strengthen such co-operation, agree on the following issues: Art. 1 Co-operation Areas The co-operation shall be carried out in all the areas of common interest of both Institutions. Possible programs of future co-operation include: 1) Exchange of students and teaching/researching staff (teaching, researching and technical personnel for workshops, seminars, conferences and common research) 2) Research activities 3) Joint courses and/or programs 4) Exchange of publications and academic materials The terms and conditions of these areas of cooperation shall be mutually discussed and agreed to in writing prior to the initiation of any activity. Art. 2 Teaching and Researching Staff Exchange Both parties will support and encourage teaching and researching staff's exchange. Both parties will also ensure that practical arrangements around that exchange will function smoothly, i.e. concerning housing and similar. Teaching/researching staff involved in the exchange will also participate in seminars and other collegial gatherings during the exchange period. The teaching/researching staff will during the exchange keep his salary from the home university. The teaching/researching staff's exchange will be addressed in separate agreements, where the parties agree on the financial aspects of the exchange. Art. 3 Student Exchange UNIVPM and CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO FRANCISCANO DO PARANÁ will develop an exchange program to enable the students to pursue study programs of a fixed period of time and receive credits in the students' respective home institution. The host institution will provide for facilities such as academic labs, library access, office space, and information and computational resources. Each student exchange program will be addressed in separate agreements, where the parties agree on the didactic aspects of the exchange. Both institutions will charge home institution tuition to their outgoing students and will waive tuition and compulsory fees for incoming students from the other institution. Art. 4 Research Activity Both Institutions will foster the development of joint research programs. Each research program will be addressed in separate agreements, where the parties agree on the financial aspects of the activity. Art. 5 Intellectual Property Rights In the case of advanced technologies, intellectual property rights will be respected and protected by all University participants and their governments according to their internal policies governing intellectual property rights. Art. 6 Idemnifications Insurance and Medical Insurance UNIVPM and CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO FRANCISCANO DO PARANÁ shall indemnify and hold the other harmless from any and all claims, causes of actions, costs, and/or expenses arising out of the acts or omissions of UNIVPM and CENTRO UNIVERSITÁRIO FRANCISCANO DO PARANÁ and their respective agents and employees. A - The host Instituitions will provide to extend the insurance for the civil responsibility to the persons in mobility. B - Mobility students and teaching/researching staff will provide for medical insurance by themselves according to the current norms of the host country. Art. 7 Termination, Renewal and Amendment This agreement shall remain in force for a period of 5 (Five) years from the date of the last signature, with the understanding that it may be terminated by either party giving the equivalent of one semester's notice in writing to the other party. In the event that the agreement is terminated, the participating universities agree that the termination shall not adversely affect any student whose exchange has been approved under this program. The agreement may be renewed by mutual consent of the two parties, provided that the parties have first reviewed the operation of the agreement during the current term and agree that it is meeting the objectives of both institutions. This agreement may be amended by the exchange of letters between the two institutions. Such amendments, once approved by both institutions and communicated to other relevant authorities for their consideration and approval, will become part of this agreement.
