PREAMBLE

The "Università Politecnica delle Marche" in the person of its Rector pro-tempore Prof. Ing. Marco Pacetti and the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (IOF) in the person of its director pro-tempore, Prof. Ivona Marasovic, willing to reinforce their relationship and to establish new co­-operative ways,<sub>agreed the following issues:


Article 1
The present agreement has the main objective to establish an academic and cultural cooperation between germane institutions of Italy and Croatia in the field of Oceanography, Marine Biology and Fisheries.

Article 2

In order to develop this co-operative program, both parties agree to:

1.   exchange information, documentation and scientific data

2.   promote and organize courses, meetings, seminars, and exercises in the field of relative interest

3.   foster and develop joint research programs in the fields of Oceanography, Marine Biology and Fisheries Reaserch

4.   foster the exchange of lecturers, teachers, researchers and experts for period of time to be defined. The exchanges will be regulated by the specific agreements between the parties

5.   cooperate in the areas of common interest in accordance whit the overall interest of their respective countries and institutions.

Article 3

The details of every single activity carried out within the frame of this agreement must be negotiated and approved by both parties, according to the necessities for each individual case.

Article 4
Medical insurance for travelling scholars, students, and associates, will be provided by the sending institution according to the current norms of the host country. All partners must be sure the visiting scholars/researchers have with them medical coverage forms issued by their own country or a similar document

Article 5
Both parties shall nominate a Coordinator inside the institutions to organize the development of projects and programs and to decide the relative sources of funding. They will the achievements of the mentioned targets.


The "Dipartimento di Scienze del Mare" (Department of Marine Science) is the coordinator for the "Università Politecnica delle Marche".

Article6
This agreement will be effective from the time of its signature and will have validity for five years. Upon expiration, it will automatically renewed unless renegotiated prior to its natural termination. Each specific co-operative program shall be drawn up annually and attached to the agreement.

Article7
The parties of this memorandum agreed that the probable disputes or disagreements for the duration of the memorandum will be settled in a friendly way, in compliance with thè interests of both parties concerned

Article 8

The agreement may be terminated by any of the parties at any time provided a three-month notice in writing.

Article 9
Amendments to this memorandum may be introduced in writing only, and will become valid only if agreed upon by both of the parties of this memorandum.

Article 10

This agreement has been drawn up in 4 (four) originals, 2 (two) of which are to be kept by each one of the parties of this agreement
