There
are five Faculties which are situated on three main campuses:
- the
Science and Technology Campus, located in Monte Dago, houses
the Faculties of Engineering, Agriculture and Science;
- the
Biological, Scientific and Health Care Campus in Torrette is a
complex specifically built to meet the needs of the teaching and research
activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery;
- the
Campus for the faculty of Economics,
in Ancona’s
historical centre, is situated in the renovated 19th century
ex-barracks called Caserma Villarey.
Other
courses run by the Università Politecnica delle Marche
are based in the towns of Ascoli Piceno,
Fabriano, Fermo, Macerata, Pesaro
and San Benedetto del Tronto.
The
Chancellor’s office and the Administrative Affairs Unit are to be found in a 19th
century building in Piazza Roma.

University Documentation Centre is located in 2 buildings:
Students
have access to personal computers for an automated search of the 140,000 works
found in the library and for the consultation of databases and electronic
periodicals.
The Language Centre (
Centro di supporto per l'Apprendimento delle Lingue-CSAL)) has
its main facilities at the Faculty of Economics where native speakers are on
call to guide students in their language studies by suggesting a specific “made-to
measure” syllabus to prepare for university exams and international
certificates.
Students
can use the canteens and accommodation situated near the various campuses.
The
students’ halls of residence are located in strategic positions and consist in
small furnished apartments with single or double bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchenette,
a common room for socialising, watching TV and studying, as well as a laundry
room.
There is
a
Sports Centre
located in Posatora
where students and staff
can use a climbing wall, a football field, a five-a-side football field and
tennis courts.
The Faculty of
Agriculture
boasts
a highly qualified academic staff and state-of-the-art didactic and scientific
equipment, making this faculty highly competitive in the European university context.
The degree courses will provide the tools for understanding the needs of modern
agriculture and for addressing issues concerning agroindustrial and environmental
sectors, combining the management and protection of the environment with the qualification
and safety of its products.
As
far as “hands-on” learning is concerned, the Faculty has a Teaching and Research
Farm, located near the town of Agugliano,
and Botanical Gardens which encompass the area of the Selva di Gallignano
(Gallignano Wood).

The degree courses in
Economics train
managers for companies and institutions, operating at a national and
international level, as well as freelance professionals. The students acquire
an adequate command of methods and general and basic scientific knowledge and
professional skills in the following areas: administration and company
management, marketing and commercial activity management, finance, business
organization and international commerce, economics of financial intermediation,
management of complex structures in the health service and more in
general, in the public sector.
Graduates
who intend to work freelance will acquire the skills needed to become external
consultants, with expertise in many issues related to accounting,
management, law and finance.
The Faculty of
Engineering
is
a point of reference for studying and developing new technologies.
It
is a modern teaching structure, equipped with sophisticated
instrumentation and large laboratories, offering a wide variety of
courses as well as preparation which is conducive to work placement
within a short time.
The
courses are characterised by their emphasis on project planning and technology,
in order to train highly qualified professionals.
The curricula cover four main areas: Science of Architecture and
Construction Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Information
Engineering and Industrial Engineering.
The courses set up by the Faculty of
Medicine and Surgery
are
of considerable importance not only for the training of doctors, dentists and
health sector specialists but also for the development of experimental
and clinical research, carried out by “workgroups” involved in
biological, chemical and multi-disciplinary sectors.
The
Faculty has multimedia halls and teaching laboratories with modern equipment as
well as specialist laboratories for basic and applied research. For the
practical training of students there is an extensive network of organizations
located in the region. The University
Hospital “Ospedali
Riuniti”, is of particular importance as it offers the possibility of full
integration between typical Health Care Services and the didactic and scientific
needs of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.
The Faculty of
Science
prepares
professionals who have the skills and knowledge to deal with environmental
issues, and who are capable of
working in both the public and the
private sector.
It
is a centre of excellence in the field of marine research, with specific
emphasis on the study of marine ecosystems and the coastline.
Owing
to its importance for research activities in Marine Biology, this Faculty
is attended by students coming from all over the country.
In
collaboration with numerous Research Organizations and Universities throughout
the world, the Faculty of Science is involved in many European Union projects.
The
degree courses in Science will train Biologists, Botanists, Zoologists, Environmental
Control Technicians, Geologists and Geophysicists.
