Internships combine academic study with on-the-job training, thus giving interns an excellent way of test-driving their career choice or defining an area of interest.
Internship programs have:
- an educational component, that allows interns to build and expand their skills as well as increase their academic learning;
- a career-orientated approach, that primarily allows interns to gain experience in real workplace situations.
Curriculum and non-curricular internships
Internships can be started for:
they are curriculum intenships, undertaken during their studies or training and they can help obtaining credits. The regulatory framework is the decree 142/98;
within 12 months to graduating from undergraduate, master degree, doctorate, master programmes, ecc. They are non-curricular internships in which a mandatory repayment must be provided. The regulatory framework refers to the regional one, so it varies from the region in which the internship is being performed.
In any case, the relationship between the intern and the employer cannot be considered employment-wise.
