Study plans

Academic Year 2023- 2024

The Study Plan is the list of exams and learning activities to be taken to achieve your qualification.

You can customise your Study Plan by choosing elective modules or compulsory ones in accordance with the rules set out in your Course Regulations.

To complete your study plan correctly, please refer to the rules of choice in your Course Regulations, which can be found at the following link: Course Regulations.

Study plan deadline: 30th November 2023

The online procedure to submit study plans is activated in early November and the deadline for completion is 30th November 2023.

Anyone wishing to complete and/or modify their Study Plan after 30th November 2023 will have to pay a penalty fee of €50.00, made exclusively through the PagoPA system; the amount to be paid will be made available on the Esse3web platform once the Registrar’s Office has received the request for the Study Plan change --> downloadable from the " forms " page.

Those who do not submit the study plan will automatically be assigned the standard study plan, with the choices predetermined by the Faculty (which may be modified in subsequent years).

USEFUL INFORMATION

  • Exams can be taken in the year they are scheduled in the study plan and only after the teaching activity for that year has finished.
  • Exams scheduled for the year subsequent to enrolment can not be taken in advance; this will result in the exam being invalidated.
  • It is only possible to choose elective modules (indicated with the letter "D" or "F") between degree courses of the same level (three-year with three-year, Master’s with Master’s), provided that they are relevant to your course (art. 10, paragraph 5, letter a, Ministerial Decree 270/04). These Study plans are to be completed on paper and are subject to approval by the Course Board for each course.
  • Excess examinations up to a maximum of 12 ECTS credits (type “D”) may be included. Excess modules will not be included for calculating the final degree grade.

SPECIAL SITUATIONS

Bachelor’s degree graduates in December and February sessions: those graduating with a Bachelor's degree in the sessions of December 2023 and February 2024 and matriculating in the Master's degree courses at our University will have the opportunity to present their study plan for the Master's degree in the following periods:

  • graduates from the December session: study plan to be completed from 8th January to 31st January.
  • Graduates from the February session:  study plan to be completed from 1st March to 31st March.

Outgoing Erasmus students: only students who are leaving for Erasmus can anticipate exams scheduled for subsequent years, provided that these subjects are included in the Learning Agreement made before departure; if an exam is taken in advance at the Engineering Faculty, acceptance of the Learning Agreement implies approval of the change to the study plan.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Study plans are presented ONLINE through the procedure accessible from your Personal area on ESSE3WEB in November.

You cannot use the online procedure and you must use the paper method if:

  • you have been ‘fuori corso’ (students enrolled for a number of years beyond the standard duration of their course) for more than a year
  • you intend to include an elective module (“D”) exam in your study plan, selecting it from the modules of other engineering degree courses at the same level
  • you want to insert an extra exam
  • after having changed courses, transferred or shortened your university career, exams not present in our University courses have been recognised
  • you want to complete and/or modify your Study Plan after the deadline of November 30 2022: In this case your Study Plan is late and a penalty fee of €50.00 will be due (to be paid through PagoPA after submitting the Study Plan Variation form to the Registrar’s office)

IMPORTANT: Students enrolled in the old five-year degree courses and Ministerial Decree 509/99 can not modify their study plans.

COMPLETING YOUR STUDY PLAN ONLINE

The study plan must be COMPLETE with all choices for every year of the course, until the required credits are reached (180 ECTS credits for three year degrees, 120 ECTS credits for the master degrees, 300 ECTS credits for Building Engineering -Architecture).

Choices may be modified in subsequent enrolment years, during the study plan compilation period.

WARNING: Once you have completed your Study Plan, you must CONFIRM IT to activate it in your career.

If the plan is not confirmed, it stays in a “DRAFT” state and can be amended and confirmed until the deadline for submission has expired.

If it is not confirmed by the deadline, the “draft” plan is deleted and:

- the standard study plan will be uploaded, i.e. with the choices pre-determined by the Faculty, if a study plan has never been submitted,

- or, if an individual plan has been submitted in previous years, the previous approved study plan will be implemented.
