The course of study in short


 

The Bachelor’s degree programme in Biomedical Engineering (class L-8) is held at the Department of Information Engineering, Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona. The aim of the course is to provide students with a solid interdisciplinary background based on the integration of both technical and biological knowledge and skills. Thanks to this interdisciplinary approach, graduates in Biomedical Engineering will have the necessary competencies to be able to find technological engineering solutions to problems of medical and biological nature. The training starts with basic subjects in the area of mathematics, physics, computer science and chemistry,  in addition to anatomy or physiology, and the study of a foreign language (typically English). It then focuses on technological subjects specific to the degree class and belonging to the areas of bioengineering, automation, telecommunications, electronics, information and mechanics, as well as on related subjects in the areas of materials, measurements, medicine and biology, some of which are chosen directly by students. The programme totals 180 ECTS and is concluded with an internship and the writing of a thesis.

Thanks to the good technical and scientific grounding acquired during the study path, graduates in Biomedical Engineering will be able to work in companies, public or private clinical/healthcare facilities as well as in the commercial sector of devices and services.

Graduates wishing to acquire further competencies will be able to continue their studies with the Master’s degree programme in Biomedical Engineering.
