The course of study in short

The Bachelor’s Degree Course in Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques aims to train health operators who are entitled to the responsibilities provided for by the Decree of the Ministry of Health of 17 January 1997, n° 58 and subsequent amendments and additions.

The graduates carry out with professional technical autonomy activities of prevention, verification and control in the field of environmental hygiene and safety in the workplace, food and beverage hygiene, hygiene and public and veterinary health, as an employee or self-employed, within the National Health Service, at all prevention, control and supervision services provided by current legislation, and at private structures and companies. The graduates working in the services with inspection and supervision tasks are, within the limits of their powers, Judicial Police Officers.

As part of the practice of the profession at national health service facilities, the Prevention Technician: - instructs, determines, disputes material irregularities and delivers opinions within the framework of its competences; - supervises and monitors health and safety at work, food safety, hygiene and public and veterinary health, as well as health and environmental prevention; - collaborates with the Judicial Administration for investigations into crimes against environmental heritage, hygiene and safety conditions in the workplace and food; - participates in study, teaching and professional consulting activities in health services; - contributes to the training of staff and collaborates directly in the updating related to their professional profile and research.

The professional, as a self-employed or an employee of private structures and companies, carries out consultancy and management activities of the practices and regulatory obligations provided for in the sectors referred to.

He is qualified to hold positions within the Prevention and Protection Services (Manager or Technician) and to hold other roles within the obligations provided by Legislative Decree of the 2008, n. 81.

In order to practice the profession, the Prevention Technician in the Environment and Workplaces, graduated from the Polytechnic University of Marche, acquires the additional qualifications to the degree, provided for by the safety regulations (Legislative Decree 81/2008) listed below:
- Certificate for Head of the Business Prevention and Protection Service (RSPP) - Form C as set out in the State-Regions Agreement of January 26, 2006
- Certificate of technical suitability for the performance of the position of 'Fire Officer' in companies at high risk of fire, obtained pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of the 10 March 1998 issued in collaboration with the Provincial Command of the Fire Brigades
- Certificate for Asbestos Risk Manager; this professional figure has the task of controlling and coordinating all maintenance activities that may affect materials with asbestos. The program of the course, planned by the ASUR (ex Z.T. 2) of Urbino in agreement with the Marche Region, follows the indications of the Law n. 257/1992 and of the Ministerial Decree 6/9/94
- Certificate for the implementation of First Aid measures. The qualification of 'person in charge' of the implementation of first aid measures in the Company follows the educational objectives and training contents indicated by Ministerial Decree of the 2003, n. 388.

Function in a work context:

The prevention technics graduates are health care professionals responsible for taking powers provided by the DM the Minister of Health 17 January 1997, n. 58 and subsequent amendments and additions; they are responsible, within their jurisdiction, of all the activities of prevention, monitoring and control of hygiene and environmental safety in living and working places, health food and drinks, hygiene and public health veterinary

Skills associated with the function:

Graduates, working in service with the tasks of inspection and supervision, are within the limits of their powers, law enforcement officers; carry out preliminary activities, aimed at issuing permits or authorization of medical technology for activities subject to control. As part of the profession, they instruct, lead, challenge and notify the irregularities detected and give advice within their jurisdiction;

- oversee and control the environments of life and work and assess the need to carry out inspections and investigations of accidents and occupational diseases;

- oversee and monitor the compliance of structures and environments in relation to the activities related to them and the safety conditions of the plants;

- supervise and control the quality of food and beverages intended from production to consumption and assess the need to carry out further investigations specialist;

- oversee and monitor the hygiene and veterinary health as part of their responsibilities, and assess the need to conduct further investigations;

- supervise and control the cosmetic product;

- cooperate with the judiciary for investigation of criminal offenses against the environmental, health and safety conditions in the workplace and food;

- supervise and control anything else required by applicable laws and regulations relating to preventive health care and the environment, within their jurisdiction;

They play with their professional autonomy technical activities and collaborate with other professional activity of planning and organizing the work of the structure in which they operate; are responsible for organizing the planning, implementation and quality of the acts performed in the exercise of their profession; participate in activities of study, teaching and counseling in health services and in the places where their expertise is required; contribute to staff training and contribute directly updating their professional profile and research; carry out their professional activity, as employees or freelance, part of the national health service, with all the services of prevention, control and supervision required by law.

Compiti di tipo organizzativo e gestionale della sicurezza del lavoro (D.Lgs 81/2008), dell'ambiente, degli alimenti e nella gestione dei sistemi qualità (HACCP) nell' industria alimentare.  Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione Aziendale (RSPP). Attività libero-professionale come consulente e/o come Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione Aziendale (RSPP).
