The course of study in short


 

The three-year course of study (CdS) in Scienze e Tecnologie Agrarie aims to train a graduate with abilities and experience to be able to meet the challenges that the agricultural and agri-food world estabilish, in an innovative way and with a interdisciplinary knowledge.
From the Academic Year 2020-21, the CdS in Scienze e Tecnologie Agrarie grants the Double degree with the CdS in 'Applied Ecology in Agronomy' from the Croatian University of Zadar, and from the A.Y. 2021-22 with the CdS of 'Agricultural Engineering' of the Hungarian University of Debrecen.

The training course is composed by a common two-year period and, in the third year, a differentiation in the curricula 'Agricultural technologies' and 'Viticulture and enology'.

The CdS is structured in such a way as to guarantee the student a solid basic training in the mathematical, physical, chemical, biological, zoological, entomological, economic and statistical disciplines, essential to allow the acquisition of knowledge and abilities in professional subjects.

The first level graduate in Scienze e Tecnologie Agrarie possesses competences in:
- Technical and economic management of agricultural firms: agricultural mechanics, of the territory components analysis , economic analysis; enhancement of typical products of the territory and local economies.
- Management of agricultural and farm animals production: factors at the base of productivity of agricultural and farm animals systems; optimization of the agricultural productivity and farm animals systems in agreement to environmental sustainability and protection of biodiversity.
- Management of vine-wine production: vine morpho-physiology , planting systems, winemaking techniques, aging and conservation of wines; technical choices finalized to the various targets of quantity and quality production.

The study plan provides a path, aimed at creating in the student a high capacity for integrating information, which is accompanied by in-depth activities of your choice, which are an expression of the skills and research activities of the teaching staff, as well as reflecting the specificities productive of the territory.
The didactic path is completed by the internship activities at affiliated organizations/firms and the preparation of the final paper (thesis).

The whole preparation course is characterized by:
- a strong integration between teachings imparted to favor the clear multidisciplinary development and integrated problems vision , according to the systemic approach;
- use of diversified forms and teaching materials which, in addition to lectures and the most up-to-date reference texts for the various disciplines, include critical reading and scientific articles discussion , carrying out laboratory exercises and active participation in seminars and workshops also organized with the collaboration of firms and professionals in the agricultural, farm animals, agri-food and environmental sectors, educational visits to companies in the sector.
- use of the Moodle technological platform, such as LMS (Learning Management System), for the development of 'Technology Enhanced' and 'Blended' training courses, in which traditional classroom training is integrated with the most innovative information technologies, through the creation of personalized learning environments.

The professional activity of graduates in the CdS takes place in the public and private sectors mainly in the following areas: i) management, monitoring and control of the gricultural and livestockfarm animals systems productivity in accordance with environmental sustainability and biodiversity protection ; ii) management, monitoring and control of vine and wine production; iii) enhancement of the typical products of the territory and local economies. Freelance after passing the qualification exam and enrollment in Section B (Junior Agronomist) of the Order of Agronomists and Forestry Doctors. In addition, free profession of oenologist for graduates of the “Viticulture and enology” curriculum.

The CdS in Scienze e Tecnologie Agrarie is also aimed at providing the knowledge and abilities for access to master's degrees related to the agricultural sector.

To be admitted to the CdS it is necessary to:
- possession of a five-year high school diploma, or other qualification obtained abroad recognized as suitable, or a four-year high school diploma and the relative supplementary year or, if no longer active, of the educational debt assigned by the CCS/CUCS after the individual assessment of the case.
- possession or acquisition of an adequate initial preparation, the verification of which will be carried out by means of an entrance test (orientation test), which does not hinder the purposes of the same. The test is aimed at making the student aware of the choice made and his attitudes to the course and includes a series of questions on topics of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, with a degree of in-depth equal to that deriving from the preparation of the secondary school of second degree. Failure to pass the test does not affect admission. If the verification test of the initial preparation is not passed, specific additional training obligations (OFA) to be met in the first year of the course are indicated, through a training course to be carried out within the first semester of the first year. Students who do not pass the test within the first year of the course are enrolled in the academic year subsequent as repeat students in the first year.

Graduates in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies

Function in a work context:

The BSc aims to train the graduates to be able to coordinate the problems of agricultural production in a multidisciplinary manner, taking into account environmental sustainability and respect for economic and social realities in specific production contexts.

Graduates in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies will be able to carry out professional activities in the agricultural and/or wine sector, in both the public and private sectors. In particular, the skills and possible employment of the graduate include:
- management of agricultural and/or wine-growing companies;
- consultancy for all technical aspects relating to the production and protection of tree and herbaceous crops;
- technical activities in associations, consortia, cooperatives, commercial structures, companies and public bodies;
- technical activities for implementation of practices for the realization of sustainable and organic agriculture;
- technical assistance to agricultural and/or wine-growing enterprises in the corporate and territorial context;
- management and monitoring of the quality of organic and integrated production;
- phytosanitary control of nursery productions (EU Directives, regional, etc.) and seeds;
- employment through competitive applications to Public Administrations;
- employment in research, assistance and technical dissemination services.
The professions listed in the ISTAT classification referred to below are to be considered non-exhaustive in describing all of the employment opportunities provided by this degree course.
