The Master Course in “Biomedical Engineering” starts from the basic knowledge and expertise that the student has acquired during the Undergraduate Course in “Ingegneria Biomedica” and deepens and integrates them with more specialized knowledge relative both to traditional and innovative sectors. The objective is to form a professional figure that is polyvalent, i.e. able to operate correctly both within companies and in clinical or health research contexts. All lectures and training materials are provided to students in English language and limitedly to some characterizing courses these teachings will be taught by teachers who come from foreign institutions and that are very active in terms of research as well as of teaching activities. In this way, students will have, in addition to more scientific expertise, also an opening to international cultural contexts, that is essential in the present job-market situation. In order to achieve the above specified objectives the Master Course in “Biomedical Engineering” will provide, mainly, the specific competencies relative to the bioengineering applications to the analysis of locomotor and cardiovascular systems.

The course will supply instruments for the measurement, and the methods and the technologies for the analysis of data, signals and images of these two fundamental physiological systems. Furthermore, the Master course will also provide expertise on advanced techniques of bioinformatics and modern computational tools applied to scientific research in the biomedical and biological fields, on modeling and control of metabolic system, on assistive robotics, and will provide the student, at his/her choice, competence as of bionanotechnology, biomaterials, problems related to electrical and electromagnetic safety of biomedical devices, medical statistics, ICT techniques for the transmission of data from sensors for domotic applications useful to monitor the activities of daily living, as well as materials that integrate and deepen the knowledge of mathematics and automatic controls applied to bioengineering. The whole Master Course is organized in 120 ECTS: 87 ECTS are relative to mandatory courses, 12 ECTS are relative to courses at student free choice on a repertoire of 9 non-mandatory courses, and the remaining are for stage/internship and thesis activities.
