The ensuing steps to pre-enrol will have to be completed with the competent diplomatic or consular authorities to obtain the requested visa.
International students who need a visa to enter Italy will have to make a timely visa request for the purpose of studies to the diplomatic or consular institutes of the country where they live. In this way, as soon as the visa is ready, the students will be able to meet the visa requirement for the enrolment procedure and finalise the whole process.
When asking for a visa to your country’s Italian Embassy or Consulate, remember to provide them with the pre-enrolment form generated by the UNIVERSITALY portal.
The procedure of visa request can vary according to the guidelines of each Italian Embassy/Consulate abroad, so it is solely the candidate’s responsibility to obtain reliable information and respect the fixed deadlines.
The procedures to release the visa will have to be concluded within the 30th November 2022.
After completing the pre-enrolment procedures in UNIVERSITALY portal and with the diplomatic/consular authority in your country of residence, you can move on to the enrolment phase.
Remember to do so within the 7th November 2022, otherwise you will incur in an extra fee. This late enrolment fee amounts to € 25,00 if you enrol within the first 60 days starting from 6th November but will increase up to € 50,00 after the first 60 days of delay.
Here you can find the steps to take next:
It is of VITAL IMPORTANCE to pay the tax fee and enclose all the requested attachments (enrolment application form dated and signed, ID copy, fiscal code copy, payment receipt copy).
ONLY when this step is successfully taken, you will be assigned a matriculation number.
NB Foreign students as well must take part in the knowledge test aimed at assessing each student’s initial preparation. This assessment helps the student too to better choose their study course. These tests are prepared by each Faculty.
The knowledge test is not selective and if not passed in the first attempt, you can still enrol, but in the following months, when other test dates are published, you will have to take it again until it is passed.
Further document needs to be uploaded in two more cases:
1. Student with disabilties:
- If you have a medical certificate released by the competent medical commission in the relevant territory proving the existence of a mental/physical condition and its degree;
2. If you are an international student, or you have a foreign degree:
- The final degree (original or certified copy), obtained from the foreign secondary education institute after at least 12 years of study, translated and legalised by the Italian diplomatic authority in the country where the degree was issued; alternatively, the final degree can be accompanied by either a declaration from the Italian Centre ENIC-NARCI (CIMEA), declarations from official foreign institutions or a declaration of value;
- If the final degree was obtained after less than 12 years of study as mentioned above. In this case, a translated and legalised certificate stating the attendance and the successful completion of all the exams planned in the 1st and 2nd university year should be uploaded;
- For the foreign countries where an initial test to access university is in place, it is mandatory to present a translated certificate proving that the test had been passed;
- Passport or valid ID document.
NB The residence permit, if you are a non-UE student, should be presented once you arrive in Italy, not when enrolling.
