Information Technology Services Centre - ITSC

The IT Services Centre provides technological support to all computerized procedures used by the administration, acquires ICT for the aforementioned structures, and drives a process of evolution and continuous improvement.

 

To reach its goals, SIA is divided into three departments, each with a specific function.

 

The IT System Management Department manages, coordinates, and provides technical and infrastructural consultancy at different levels for the main management softwares used by the central administration. As an illustration, the main procedures used are: UGOV accounting, mainly used for accounting purposes, CSA for payrolls, Dalhia database for exchanging information with MIUR, DW (Datawarehouse) for strategical analysis, MIF for IT mandate. It develops and manages personalized IT softwares for technical/administrative staff and professors.

 

The University Website, delivered through CMS, is managed, coordinated, and integrated by the ITSC staff in collaboration with the University staff. The automized procedures in the reserved area were developed by the ITSC programmers: the most important to remember are staff attendance, holidays, and permits for the University staff.

 

The System Management and Network Services Department manages all necessary hardware for the correct functioning of administrative procedures: server, firewall, NAS, SAN, network devices, wiring, Vmware environment, Citrix environment. Moreover, it operates, manages, and updates the client's machines, that includes 250 personal computers and 200 printers. Within the central administration, it is responsible for IT security, audit, backups, and disaster recoveries.

 

The Database Management Department manages, coordinates, and provides technical and infrastructural consultancy at different levels for the main management softwares used by the central administration, presidencies, and libraries. As an illustration, the main procedures used are: ESSE3 and ESSE3Web used for registrar's offices management, UGOV for teaching, IRIS for research, Confirma for exams registrations, Titulus for IT protocol, Sebina for the libraries. It developes and operates personalized IT softwares for students and professors.

 

Through web technology, further services like Dspace for the open archive, Hesk for managing the external tickets, and a Wiki for internal documentation are distributed
