First level Master of Dipartimento di Scienze della Vita e dell'Ambiente

The course will be confirmed with at least 12 and maximum 20 participants.

Admission requirements:

The course can be attended by graduates of the following degree classes (see Ministerial Decree 270/2004), or graduates of equivalent degree classes as per Ministerial Decree 509/1999, or graduates of equivalent degree classes according to the university old regulation (prior to Ministerial Decree 509/1999):

 Candidates holding a degree/diploma obtained abroad, equivalent as for contents and duration for the sole purposes of participation to the Course, to one of the required Italian degrees, can apply. Candidates holding a degree which is not included in the above-mentioned classes will be admitted only after approval of the Selection Committee.

 

Learning objectives:

The participants will become acquainted with all the main topics concerning marine ornamental aquaculture, such as fish, invertebrates, algae and aquatic plant biology. They will also learn the basic of design and management of ornamental aquaculture systems. Special attention will be given to sustainability and water recirculation systems.

 

Professional opportunities:

The students that will successfully complete this course will obtain the expertise required to professionally operate in the field of ornamental aquaculture and work for ornamental breeders, exporters, importers, public aquaria, as well as performing field activities. They will therefore be able to fill in a gap in the ornamental aquaculture sector, presently covered by no other course, in Italy or worldwide.

 

Selection procedures:

Applicants will be selected on the basis of their academic qualifications, an interview and their knowledge of the English language.

The interviews will take place on 23rd November 2017 from 9 a.m. at Dipartimento di Scienze della Vita e dell’Ambiente. 

 

Fees:

Enrollment fees amount to 3.000,00 €. All compulsory contributions are included.

For those students who decide to go to Indonesia for their traineeship, the application fees include the following:

  • 7-night stay at Resort Coral Eye (Bangka Island – Indonesia), breakfast, full-board, 4 divings, diving equipment and transfer from and to Manado airport (Indonesia)
  • The enrolment fees do not include the flight tickets.
