The course of study in short

The Degree Course (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) in Management Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Marche trains professionals able to carrying out organizational and managerial activities for which technological and economic-managerial skills are required. His transversal skills allows both the use of the most recent ICT technologies necessary for the operational activity of companies, and the effective use of methods and tools typical of industrial engineering. The Management Engineer is able to carry out a wide range of activities, such as the design and management of production and logistics systems and distribution systems of goods and services, business organization and management, planning and management of technology and innovation. The multidisciplinarity and the strong attitude to innovation allow to operate in a wide range of industrial and service companies. The Degree Program trains graduates with a basic and specialist formation necessary to continue their training in a Master Degree Course. In addition, graduates can be included in the professional register after the qualification exam. Access to the degree program requires the achievement of a secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad. Furthermore, a good knowledge of the Italian language, logical reasoning skills, knowledge and ability to use the main results of mathematics and science are required. Adequate initial preparation is verified according to the methods described in the Academic Regulations of the Degree Programs.
The peculiarity of the professional figure trained through the Information Engineering course (L-8 class) is represented by the ability to work as a link between developers and managers of solutions and ITC systems supporting Operation Management, both in the industrial and service fields. The main feature of the engineer trained through the Industrial Engineering course (L-9 class) is the ability to manage production and logistic processes and, more generally, business processes and technology management problems.
The teaching units of the first year refer mainly to basic scientific training while those of the second year refer to specialized engineering training. The third year courses complete the engineering knowledge and skills typical of management engineering, according to the L-8 or L-9 classes. The course of study also includes 12 CFUs of the student free choice. There are also training and internship activities in companies or at foreign universities. Finally, course includes practical activities carried out in the laboratory and individual and group projects.
Teaching method is based on frontal lectures, supplemented by the use of an e-learning platform (Moodle - Learning Management System) for the transmission of knowledge and skills.

The main tasks for graduates from the degree course in Management Engineering (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) concern the design, implementation and management of systems used in production, distribution and marketing of goods and services, in line with the needs of companies and institutions and consistently with knowledge advancement in these areas. Peculiar features of Management Engineers are a solid basis of technical and engineering knowledge and the ability to effectively manage production and logistics processes and, more in general, business processes and technology management problems in companies operating in both the industrial and service sectors. The professional figure of the Management Engineer combines the ability to manage typical operation management activities (production, distribution and marketing of goods and services) with the ability to analyse, evaluate and re-engineer company processes having regard to the principles of continuous improvement, both from a technological and economic-financial point of view.

Skills associated with the function:
Graduates from the degree course in Management Engineering (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) will have the appropriate knowledge to carry out activities in different areas, as freelancers as well as in manufacturing or service companies and public administrations. In particular, they will be able to deal with the provision and management of materials, organisation of business and production, organisation and automation of production systems, logistics, project management and management control, analysis of industrial sectors, investment evaluation and industrial marketing.

The main employment opportunities for graduates are in:

- freelance career, subject to passing the qualification exam and enrolling in the appropriate Professional Engineers Register.
