+ - What is the selection process for Phd programs like?

Applications will be selected for admission by qualifications and interview. 

+ - What are the entry requirements for PhD programs?

All applicants must have completed, by the deadline set in the call, a Master's degree programme in an Italian university, according to the Italian university system in force before or after the Italian Ministerial Decree 509/1999, or an equivalent post-graduate degree programme in a non-Italian university.

+ - If I graduate in October 2023, can I apply by August?

Yes. However, if you application is considered for eligibility, your admission to the PhD programme will still be dependent on your graduation, which must not be later than October, 31

+ - How do I need to apply?

Applications must be submitted from the ‘’esse3web’’ reserved area according  to the instructions of the “Registration Guide” and the “Online Application Guide”, which can be downloaded from the UNIVPM website within the peremptory deadline provided in the call. Applications submitted beyond the deadline will not be considered.

+ - Which PhD programs could I apply for with my (Italian or non-Italian) Master's degree?

Any.

+ - I have taken a non-Italian qualification. Which calls can I apply for?

You can apply for ordinary positions as well as for the ones reserved to applicants holding a non-Italian Master's degree. If you apply for both, the application fee must be paid twice.

+ - I graduated from a non-Italian university: which documents do I need to attach in the application?

You need to attach your degree certificate along with a transcript giving full details of the subjects studied and marks obtained. Please, include an official, certified translation and "declaration of value" issued by the Italian Consulate or Embassy of the country which awarded your degree; if you do not have the above-mentioned documents, you will need to provide documentary evidence thereof by submitting them upon the application procedure (degree certificate with transcript of records or a description of the degree program with the list of the exams taken, etc.)

+ - What are the documents I need to upload to support my application?

All the documents provided by the call for application and from annex A and the ones useful for the selection board evaluation.

+ - Is there a minimum score in the evaluation of qualifications for the admission to the interview?

For the Ph.D. course in ‘’Life and Environmental Sciences’’ only, a minimum score of 15/30 in the qualifications is required for admission to the interview.

+ - I am a research grant holder. Can I apply for PhD?

Yes. However, because PhD scholarships cannot be combined with research grants, you will have to relinquish either one.

+ - Do I need to submit my own research proposal?

For Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences and Management and Law the project will be discussed during the interview.
For Economics there is no specific format. The project should not exceed 3 pages.

For Biomedical Sciences and Human Health the project must be drawn up using Documento in formato Microsoft Word 2007this template.(379 KB)

+ - Can I pay the application fee through bank transfer?

Payment must be made using the PagoPA system. The payment procedure will be enabled after submitting the application. There is no need to send the receipt. After a few days, it will be possible to check the status of the payment by logging into the reserved area in the "Payments" section.

Those who are abroad and are unable to use the PagoPA system can make a bank transfer to the following coordinates:

+ - When do I need to pay the application fee?

Application fees must be paid by the deadline of the call 

+ - If I cannot attend the interview, will I be excluded from the selection?

Yes

+ - How are interviews scheduled?

The Examining Board will schedule the interviews on the day of the test

+ - Is there a maximum income above which applicants are no longer eligible for PhD scholarship?

Pursuant to Art.11 paragraphs 10 and 11 of the "Doctoral Courses Regulation," the scholarship is granted to eligible students only if they have an annual income from employment not exceeding €15.000,00 gross. In order to verify the set income limit, Ph.D. students are required to self-certify their income situation annually. If the income limit is exceeded, the scholarship will be suspended and the monthly payments received during the year will have to be returned.

+ - When do Ph.D. courses start?

Courses start on November 1st, 2023.

+ - How will the interviews take place?

The interview for admission to the Ph.D. course in Life and Environmental Sciences can be held virtually via MS Teams or in person. The candidates can express a preference during the application.

 

For all other courses, the interview will be held in person for residents/domiciled in Italy, while for residents/domiciled abroad is provided the telematic mode at the request of the candidate.
